OK the work is all but done now.All I have to do is get some fuel line and some fuel and then it's start up time.Just won't get to do that until next week. Here's how she looks now.

It has had the fuel system cleaned out.Tap was blocked junk in the carby and fuel line trashed. The tank was full of junk. What appeared to be old dead and dried up 2 stroke mix.Got it as clean as I could, just wished I could have pulled tank apart, but then I would need to tools to seal it back up which I don't.It is fairly clean though so it should hopefully be right. There is a good filter on the tap to stop the horrible things if there is still is any.

Pulled flywheel off and gave everything a big clean and recapped the points as she didn't have any spark. It could benefit from a new set of points. I will change at some point, but for now she has good spark.

Still looks rough I know, but she is better than it was when I got her.So will keep you posted when I start it up.Hopefully in a week or so,I have a bit on at the moment. After we get settled into a new house this old girl will see the restoring tool box come her way.Won't that be exciting for her, considering when I purchased it I was only going to wreck it.Not now.

HELP!!!!! I need some help. While I was playing around with my VC-160 Auto Drive Mark I today I decided that I would put some fuel in this Cortina 2 and fire it up.Poured the fuel in and as quick as I poured it in it leaked out.So I thought OK the tap is leaking.Fine so I'll change taps.Well so I thought. This is what happened.

[Censored] bugger boo.It snapped the tap plate off.Not happy, not happy at all.So I'm going to put in the wanted section as well as here.So if anybody has a tank for one of these guys and don't want it.Please please please I need.

I know it is proberly fixable but I'm not real happy with the tank it still has junk inside and I can see that there is a little rust in the tank.So another tank I reckon would be a better idea.

No I couldn't get any fuel to the carby it was like a water fall,or in this case a petrol fall. The problem with the tank is I really think it needs the 2 half's apart to get rid of the rest of the crud and whatever rust is in it.

Find a gravel driveway.

pick out a good hand full of sharp edged stones that will fit in the hole. Take them inside and rinse them off in to get any dirt off. Dry. (oven on a tray works good)

Put them in the tank, add some diesel or kerro.

Shake like a mad man for as long as you can. Days, weeks, months.

It will come up good inside.

Yeah I know there are ways of doing it,but I'm just a big fat lazy bastard and don't really want to.I may but getting another tank first and then look at cleaning it.I mean I won't throw it out as I have 2 Cortina's now and I'm not sure of the condition of the other ones tank. It's in storage backed on a pallet.
