Well after a very look and exhausting search I have finally found myself the VC-Auto Drive Mark I.I have been looking for over 12 months, appropriately. These are the pictures that were on eBay.I paid a little more but when he said he would get it to Brisbane for free I said hell yeah. The way I look at it is he is about 4 hrs drive from me or it would have cost about $70 to freight. So I reckon I'm saving with that.So the way I look at it I'm paying about $40 for it.I reckon it's worth it.

As you can see it is in fairly good condition, and it runs.
[Linked Image]
...and drives
[Linked Image]
...and I'm excited about seeing it.

He told me it should be here late next week.So as soon as I have it I will add more pictures.Run it and most likely add it to you-tube.If there are any interested party's I will put up the link for that.

I think I saw this one up there, I was looking at it myself, mainly for the beautiful cowl, but money is a bit to tight at the moment.

Glad to see it went to a good home, especially seeing as you have been looking for one for ages.

Cheers
Ty

Getting worried now and maybe I shouldn't.The seller said last week it would be up here this week. Now I'm being told it will be here next week.I think next time I send a message I'll be asking for the date of which he is coming this way.

Picked her up today so I have been busy cleaning her and making her look fabulous. She does look like she hasn't seen a lot of action.I tried to start her,she did start but didn't run. When I tried I seen that somebody had left the fuel tap on so I'm guess the carby is full of junk,so I'm guessing thats why no run,but a start. Will get out there tomorrow and clean out the carby. So here she is for your viewing pleasure.

I did see them they were slightly newer than this one. They were the Mark II and Mark III versions.I already have those two.In-fact with this one I now have all 4.If your going to get one of these,I'd get one the next time you see one and can get it.I have been trying to find one now for over 12 months. There was only one other one that I could have got,but it was only half of one. They are getting very hard to find this version.

Nice looking mower.

Its good that people are doing them up.
But is way better when a high percentage of the colletion is mowers in fantastic original condition.

Yes it is good, but I may upset you as I'm going to restore it.Not that it will take much.Just re-chrome handles and paint base. Not much needed for this one.

OK I have got her going woo hoo .I'm a happy she goes and goes well also she even drives herself like she was suppose to.Here is the YouTube link.

This baby is fastly (I know that's not a word, but it's how I feel) becoming my new favorite mower from the 70's.So much so here are some pictures I took of her today.

Very minimal clean here in fact it was just a hose off.

...and just to show you that after the video she got another wash down.

I really do like this one a lot.It took over 12 months to find but it was well worth the wait.

Had a little problem with this old girl over the weekend. She changed her mind about being an auto drive and wanted to become a straight away drive, ie when she'd she would just take off. So I had a look and found lots of junk around the clutch lever which seem to help, but when she starts now she still try's to move slowly. Is this normal? I haven't had a lot to do with these so I'm not sure. So need some advice. I can stop it from moving by just putting my hand on the bars, but if you lift while idling the back will turn at reasonable speed, with the handle in the stop position.

Belt doesn't seem to be tight at all on fact I would have thought it would have needed to be tighter. The cable when not in gauged is lose and can move at fork end. Not lose or flopping around. Could it be in the gear box itself? I've. Never had one apart so I don't know what's in there.

Does anybody know how to change the oil in the gear box? [Linked Image]

Just a couple more pictures of it. More of just testing if I could do it by phone. Just let know about the picture quality.
