Hi codeman, and a warm welcome to the OutdoorKing forum. Its great to have another Scott Bonnar owner on board. We all like to learn new things and tinker here; so we hope you will feel right at home. grin

Once you post your pics, I may be able to give you some info, but scarifier's are mainly used by greenskeepers of golf courses and bowling clubs and contacting your local lawn bowling club and speaking to the greenskeeper may be of help to you with how to set it up etc. wink
Looking forward to seeing the pics, once again, codeman :welcome:

Hi again codeman, Scott Bonnar often riveted one tag over another...you will probably find the top one is the Serial number of the machine and the bottom one is the Model number. I can't make anything out from the pics.

This is where it gets interesting, the bottom tag is aluminium alloy and a later tag than the brass top one....which means this machine is probably manufactured somewhere between late 1970 -73.

Can you please post the complete string of numbers stamped on the air-cowling of the Briggs...This will allow us to confirm the exact date of manufacture of the engine. wink

The machine itself looks in very good order and would restore beautifully.

Some questions for you....
(1) Are you going to use it on your own lawn?

(2) What machine do you use to mow your lawn with?

Hi deejay, thanks for info mate, I will check full serial tomorrow but I do remember it starts with 71 and to my knowledge that means 1971 was the year it was built.
To answer your questions I have know how to use this machine, as I work as an outdoor power equipment apprentice.
I have just finished my 1st year at NQ Power Equipment in Innisfail Qld. Anyway we were cleaning out the shed and they put it out for scrap, and I saw it; I couldn't let it go, as it is in such good condition and looks still all original.... so my plan is to fully restore it and just keep it. I guess I do like the old stuff so yeah, might start collecting... lol

Hi again codeman, Re: the dating code, the dating code is at the back end of the string....1971 sounds correct though for you Briggs, the colour scheme fits the time line....anyhow when you post the string....we will know for sure.
congrats on a good score there, you will have great fun using it...and...you can hire it out to do your neighbours and friends lawns as well...I wish you were close to me here...My lawn could use a good scarify as well. lol
Good to have you onboard...

I've attached a bit of information from the 1960s on the Scott Bonnar Model 46 Scarifier-Groover. Regards,
