My neighbour just bought an SB45 and would like some info on it. It has the number 13365 on the sticker. Powered by a 3HP B&S. It has been well looked after and he picked it up for $150 which I said was a good price. The chain case cover has been removed to clean and grease the chains. Can the SB minds offer any info on it? ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/08/full-5849-7447-neil_1.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/08/full-5849-7448-neil_2.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/08/full-5849-7449-neil_3.jpg) Regards, DaveC

Hi Dave, well, for a start it is a 17" not 16" machine, twin rail engine deck...so would most probably have been manufactured between 1973 and 79. If it still had the original Briggs and Stratton we could have the number string stamped into the air cowling...that would have given us the manufacture date of the engine and a closer date for the Scotty. It has not got the original handles.....those are from a "SB Lawn King" mower (a variant of the Model 45), Hammertone blue in colour. Its engine has been replaced by this later model....if we can get the complete string of numbers from the air cowling we can give you more info on this engine.

He just mowed his front lawn and it runs like a dream.

The engine was manufactured on 3 January 1988. It is 8 cubic inch displacement (130 cc), side valve design, of B&S's third design generation, with a horizontal crankshaft and a PulsaJet carburetor. It has a ball main bearing on the output shaft side, and a rewind starter. This engine is an I/C ("Industrial/Commercial") model which means it has a cast iron sleeve in the cylinder rather than B&S's usual aluminium bore.
