Hi all,

I have collected a couple of Victa mustangs 70 series (full crank I believe) and I noticed the other day that they dont seem to have much suction to pull grass clippings off the edge of the pavers. Is there a better Blade carrier or blades that can be fitted to help pull clippings off the pavers?

The current blade carriers are of the 2 blade varity with near new blades. The only mod is I have sharpend the cutting edges and loosesend up the blades so they can move if they strike something.

Is there a 4 blade cutting disc / blade carrier type that I can retro fit? would it help?

Note: The mowers are at full RPM ; The mowers are set at its max height as lawn type likes it high! (fine leaf buffalo)
cheers

Hmm they are meant to mow grass they are not a yard vacuum.

You shouldnt need to loosen the blades.

What disc does it have on it, the round stepped one???

You could put two of the later high lift blades on it but in the event of hitting something they will not swing back into the disc, they will hit it.

You could get a later 4 blade disc and put that on. Will cost you more than the mower is worth. And they do not have the recess for the blades to swing back fully either.

There is a photo i uploaded on here somehwere of all the different victa discs.

Thanks Rob smile
Food for thought....
Blades are tightend to victa specs....and the disc has clearence for the blades to come in if hits any thing. The blades were "NAVY" tight before..
I'll keep an eye out for a 4 blade unit. I had an old Pope rotary valve mower which could just about pull worms out from 12" away grin It had a great vacuum action and four blades, but the secret was in the blade carrier.....

Thanks Rob! cool
interesting, to see the different carriers, I picked up a couple of utilities today with the flat 2 blade disc type. I was a bit suprised that the 70 series Special 160 had the flat disc (as per bottom right); as the other one I have, has the same type as is top left in your picture.

Getting back to my original inquiry though it looks like 4 and 8 blade carriers are the ones to look out for... I imagine you would get a finer cut and more "air" movement with those. I'll have to check out the Mustang see which one it has relative to your pics..
cheers2

I probably should take another pic. I think i have the full range here now.

The 160cc utility discs are smaller.
