hi guys

i dont post much on here anymore but i still poke my head around a fair bit

today i was mowing the lawn with a PRO460 powertorque i found and it has a awesome cut

it stopped working after 10 minutes

so i cleaned/rebuilt the carby still no go

checked spark......great but still no go

replaced broken starter o ring still no go

checked exhaust port looks fine still no go

checked fuel to carby lots getting there still no go

the bloody thing ran this arvo and then just died like it ran out of fuel [no it didnt run out of fuel its got heaps]

put some fuel in the plug hole still no go

it has plenty of bright blue noisy crackly spark

WHAT HAVE I MISSED

another problem with this thing is the fuel tap wont undo it just spins round and round not so much a problem it just annoys the crap out of me.

Just because it sparks outside the motor doesnt mean it does inside the cylinder where its being asked to spark in more than 5 times atmosphere.


If it wont fire with fuel in the plug hole it definately sounds spark related.

What about the condition of the piston and rings? will it still fire up (with fuel in cylindar) even though there may be no compression?

Hey Emmo...I was going to post this last night but got side tracked,since only recently 2 of my mowers failed in this way.
Im assuming the mower runs fine when it runs?Intermitent failing.....Start by changing the plug regardless of how much spark it produces,It may be failing/over heating,very common.As for your tap,as you said cant see why it would matter.Check your module,another part that can fail intermittently.Ive seen enough of these fail over the time.As for the carby it would more likely to fail straight up or run erratically.One other thing,you said "you found it"meaning you dont know its history???Is the engine worse than you think?Meaning compression?And aside the initial failure after 10 mins,Is it flooding when your trying to do a hot start?

mower ran fine it just stopped and wont start again but i dont know the history of the machine as i found it
had another look at it this arvo
ill change the plug
compression seems fine
decompressor is filthy ill clean it up
module seems fine
carby is clean inside and out not flooding i think but will pull it apart over the weekend and check again might pull the head off as well and get a better look inside.

if all else fails ive got another powertorque that should run with a carby clean
