My 8hp b+s vertical shaft ride on mower engine is worn badly...The bore is scored and glazed...the piston with rings on can move an unbelievable amount in the bore.The conrod can move back and forth almost 1/8 of an inch against the crank.....the valve guides are worn badly....the exhauxt valve seat is loose!!!...the choke shaft and throttle shaft in the carby housing are extremely worn as well....What should I do?
the rest of the mower works well and is in good condition.
Can i import a short block from the states without attracking customs duties? they are $US275..plus shipping.

I would suggest that you buy a short block which will be nearly as cheap as the engine from the US.
