How would I go about converting a Briggs and Stratton vertical shaft 8hp motor into a horizontal shaft?

hello

it would be very hard to convert and vertical shaft to a horizontal shaft to give you an idear of what you would have to do you would have to install a oil pump, put carby up so it can be filled with fuel, and change where tank is mounted, change where the oil top up is thats just a few problem you will come across.

It cannot be done. To start with there is no mounting base to bolt it down, the intake port holes (screw holes) would sit up&down instead of crosswise, the governor and governor controls are set up completely , ("without the governor, or if its not set right the engine would overspeed and put the connecting rod through the side of the block") and last but not least, the horizonal crankshafts are "SYNCRO BALANCED" using different counter weights than vertical. mk.farnam@gateway.net mkfarnam@yahoo.com
