I'm getting pretty excited about it actually, this one was originally on the back burner, but now that I have all this extra info, I'm getting keener, so there's been a change in priorities.
This week I'm flat out helping Jeffrey (Blumbly) pack up to move this weekend, but while he's house hunting he will be crashing at mine with his painting setup (16CFM compressor, paint guns, etc.) so I will be doing up 5 mowers in that time (recent promotion gives me the money for paint) they will be my Dad's VC-160 (MKIIIB V111 72VJ), my 62 Cadet, my Purple VC-Sports, my MKI VC-160, and this.
The engine has great compression (top & bottom) strong spark, and smooth movement (this is all by memory, it's been in the back of the shed since march) so I have a feeling it it wont take much to fire up!
I remember there being a great spot of paint under some of the grease for paint match, so I'll be giving this one a full restore!
Cheers Ty

It has a context to fit into Ty: the Japanese (Komatsu) 2 stroke Briggs used to sell, plus the Suzuki and Kawasaki 2 strokes, and now the Fuji Robin 2 stroke. All of the others seem to have excellent reputations, and from what I hear so does Robin. Parts should be available for all of them, from the Japanese source. I haven't personally seen anything much in Outdoorking archives on Robin engines, but as I recall Bruce regards them as outstanding. Hopefully we'll get a good archival contribution as you become familiar with this engine and get it working properly.

I'm also hoping to provide it that context in my collection.
I would like to have a small series of non-victa 2-strokes, to help diversify the 2-stroke side of my collection.
Currently, on the early side, I have a B.U.X, a Simplex, Villiers 7F, Boundy, and a J.A.P powred mower.
Moving a little further forward I have this Robin, and I have the Suzuki, I am hoping next to come across one of the Komatsu/Briggs 2 strokes, as from what I have seen they are a very unique engine.
The main plan for the mower side of my collection is to provide a good range of Victa models, particuarly focusing on the Series 70 engines, which will be offset by a collection of varios machines displaying a number of different 2 and 4 stroke engines.
Alonside that, I am really getting into chainsaws, I have a little red Shandaiwa I picked up recently, which takes me to 5, however that's a little further off topic, so I'll save the details for when I post the Shindaiwa.
Cheers Ty

Your on your way to having a very diverse collection there mate! Now all you need is a briggs 2stroke diesel.... the only engine I've ever seen that ran counter clockwise... Kori

Kori, This topic is verging near off topic, which is something we need to keep in track, however, you have got me very curios with your comments about this 2-stoke Briggs Diesel.
Is it possible you could post some information on this engine in a new thread in the Idle Chatter section for us to discuss, I'm rather intrigued and would like to find out more about it!
Cheers Ty
