Greetings, This mower is painted hammertite light green. It has an air cleaner cover with V61 on it (which I doubt is original). Engine serial number is 47013554. Has the square muffler. The base is aluminium alloy. The carby is the sort with the narrow flag on it, with the throttle cable up to the top of the handle. Missing the grass deflector that pivots on the side of the base. Stationary
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Is there any chance of a pic of the air filter, you have me curios now, as the V61 did not have a hi-zone filter (4-stroke) and therfore i did not think there would be an air filter sticker for this one out there!
What you have is a V59 1969-1970 160cc Special, well yousrs specifically is 1970, it has a Series 70 MKI Engine, and a G3 carburettor, with no decompressor on the cylinder.
Cheers Ty

Howdy, I've got one of those flaps around here somewhere, at least I think that's what it's off!

Gooday, Thanks for the relpies. I boobed !!! The number on the airfilter cap was V81. (not V61). Sorry Ty. Greg, if I post a clearer photo of the place where the flap fits - with measurements, could you please compare that data with the one you think you have. I would be prepared to pay for it - and postage of course. Stationary

Back Again. Ty - here is a photo of the air filter and the throttle knob (require that whole assembly too). Greg - The measurement between the two pivot points is 2 1/4" and the pivot shaft (holes) is approx 5/8". There is an end-slotted piece of angle steel bolted in front which I believe is the work of a previous tennant. Hope that is clear enough, Stationary

Makes sense now, I found reference to a remote air filter option for the 4-stroke I was reffering to, and that is the setup they used to use for just that.
Looking at the difference in sun damage between the cap and filter, I would guess only the cap was replaced, the original would have looked just the same, but with a different sticker (V59)
Cheers Ty

Thanks Stationary, here's a pic of the flap I've got. Like I said earlier, I think! I got it with a mower, it was wired on. Anyway, if you want it, let me know. Postage is enough for it. Cheers Looking at it, maybe it's not!!

Gooday Greg, Your flap doesn't appear to be long enough. There is a good 5" from the pivot point to the edge of the opening in the chassis. Or is this just the angle I am looking at it? Could you do an end on photo so I can see the curve please. With some measurements? Stationary

Cheers. Here's some pics with measurements. I'm thinking No, unless there's some sort of apparatus that goes in between. I seem to recall having another old flap here somewhere. I'll see if I can find it.

Found what it fits. As far as I know, this opening on a low arch catcher model was for mowing up against fences. I've got one with the full cover here! But it fits the bracket on the base perfectly, so maybe there was an option of having the choice of a side throw or catcher. Or maybe it's off another model that happens to use the same mounting bracket. Oh yeah, the mower's an old Cortina 2, and I've got the steel catcher that goes with it!

Gooday Greg, I dont think I will worry with the side throw attachment. Yours is for a parallel fitting - whereas the one on the Special is at an angle and much longer. Thank you for your offer though - and the time taking photographs. Most appreciated. Stationary
