Have done another one , a hybrid with an engine taken off a big Masport , home made shute on the side of this one , four cutting blades on this one ,has enough thrust out of the sideshute to get a jumbo jet off the ground . ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/01/full-3886-4700-victa_14_bitsa_003_medium.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/01/full-3886-4701-victa_14_bitsa_004_medium.jpg)

That looks absolutely brilliant Alwil, awesome colour scheme. What's the engine mounting ring off? Looks like it should be there!
The ultimate goal in customising is to make it look like it isn't, you've hit it with this one!! Good work!
Cheers.

Yep , I'm happy with it , does a good job on my lawn (weeds ). Mounting ring was on the old Masport , which has been scrapped , looked great but was very big and a late model which I don't really want . also was a bit bashed about . There was a lot ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/01/full-3886-4711-victa_masport_tornado_004_small.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/01/full-3886-4712-victa_masport_tornado_005_small.jpg) of work in mounting this to the old baseplate , especially modifying , drilling , and fitting to clear the sump drain hole . Cheers Al

That engine looks like a 92508 from about 1980-83, but it could be a 92908. Nice engine, in my opinion - I'm surprised that you called the mower it was originally on a "late model".

So you had to cut the ring out of the Masport? Nice job! It's all worth it in the end, turned out brilliant. A credit to you.

Hi Greg and grumpy , yes ,I cut the ring out of the Masport , sorry that I wasn't clear in my post , it was a tedious job with a jigsaw and finished off by filing and grinding but the end result was worth it , in my opinion . I referred to the Masport as a late model as I prefer the earlier models to restore , 1950's and 1960's models , but if the price is right then I will spend some time on the "later ones " . I have now restored twenty seven mowers in the last eighteen months since I started , ( have just been promoted to trainee from novice ), and I now have only three post 1970 mowers in my shed ,these are used occasionally on a rotating basis on my lawns , not like my " old " ones which do not get started very often . My model 2 is the mower that is started regularly for demos if anyone comes around and is interested . To be honest , all the model numbers and specifications mean very little to me , I just like to firstly get them running and then make them look pretty . Years ago when I was in the engineering industry I would have known ( and been interested in ) the specs but those days are long gone now . Sorry if I offend , but there are a lot of better things in life to me than details of machinery . Cheers Al ps. these are my other two post 1970 machines which do get used , I believe are 1988 and 1982 models . ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/01/full-3886-4757-victa_1988_utility_002_small.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/01/full-3886-4758-victa_1988_utility_004_small.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/01/full-3886-4759-victa_82_utility_kellys_004_small.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/01/full-3886-4760-victa_82_utility_kellys_005_small.jpg)

You do beautiful work alwil, but you've proved that we don't all like the same colours.

Again Beautiful work mate, out of curiosity, what inspired the Series 80's pink colour scheme?
Cheers Ty

Since retiring from the workforce ( not life !! ) three years ago we spend quite a lot of time away from home ,my daughter mows the lawn during this time and loves to use the utility which is a lot lighter and easier to use than my multi function Masport and she requested that I paint one for her in girlie colours , she loves it .
Stickers are the originals , touched up and photocopied onto photo paper and laminated and stuck on with carpet tape ,a very thin double sided tape .

You raise an interesting point with the "girlie colours", alwil. I wonder how many women mow lawns? I'm pretty sure their tastes get very little consideration from the mower marketers. With cars, the manufacturers went through a period of ignoring women completely, then they decided that women were influencing the choice of colour but not of car, and then relatively recently they got to the point of recognising that women sometimes choose, buy and use cars. I suspect the mower designers are at a very early stage in this process of mental development.

This thread has turned into a bit of show and tell. I did explore that theory. Girls mow lawns, market mowers to girls. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/01/full-4181-4773-pinkyplus_025.jpg) If i remember right i got $120 for it. Wasnt too happy, could have got that if id left it the Victa green. Ebay winner turns up to get it, a short blad sweaty greasy haired guy in his 40's. 'buy it for your wife did ya' I asked. 'nah, bought it for me, i live by myself, bought it coz it went cheap' he replied. "well you can eff off and go home and bite your pillow pink mower boy" well thats what i felt like saying too him. I wanted a lady to buy it and take it home and love it. I love all my machines and i wish them the best. Did this for my sister. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/01/full-4181-4774-20thpurple_011.jpg) She loves it too bits. Going gang busters she tells me. And Cranky the Christmas mower. They guy who won this on ebay bought it for himself and rekoned it was awesome and had to have it. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/01/full-4181-4775-redones_004.jpg) I didnt paint it, was just built up out of random victa bits lying around the shed.
