My 8 year old son dragged in an old mower from council clean up. He thought he would remove the wheels to make a billy cart. On closer inspection it looked complete (handles, starter cord, decals, relatively good paint for age, etc and possibly would start). Trying to foster some enthusiasm for the past, and looking for a small project with my son, we have decided to find out as much about this machine as possble and then restore it.
The mover in question has an Aluminium base embossed PACE 18. The engine is a two stroke unit (stamped CB396V). I checked the Victa web site, and it looks almost identical to the 1960-1961 Standard model 8 except our muffler and airfilter are on the opposite side to that shown on the Victa, and our base is more complex.
I have not checked our local library yet, however any information about this machine would be greatly appreciated.

Frank S ,

Can you send me a picture of the machine? confused I think that the machine that you have would be a store brand one.

The pace brand to my memory started being made around the 1970's and if it was you would have a carbie on it that has a wind vane on top either in plastic or metal.

The muffler was what they called a torpedo type. If you go to the area Parts list and Repair manuals you should be able to pick out the carby on your mower. I will forward you the access code(private mail) so that you can have a look.

Frank,

I have seen the pictures that you sent me and I will be uploading information on the motor within the next two days so that you can look at it under parts list and repair manuals. wink

If you require more information I do my best to get it to you as soon as possible. :Wavey:
