hi
Bruce
I have a vc160 given it a clean up carby and cleaned exhaust port but try to start it and the bitch pulls the cord out of my fingers.(i am 62 and this has taken up far too much of my time)i know a little about 2 strokes do you think the flywheel has slipped on the crank and cut the key way and buggered up the timing ,feels like it is trying to ignite before it gets to tdc or there abouts.
Awaiting your reply Bruce
thanks
Graham

graham22,

Graham what you have done is not tightened up the blade plate nut or put the washer on back to front.

You can usually tell by a shiney look on the blade plate behind the washer.

This causes the kick back when you try to start the machine because it causes a timing problem.

Let me know how you go.

I have made that mistake before .I almost stripped the nut tightening it before I realised that you are supposed to fit the washer with the sign that says 'nut side'facing you and not facing the disc.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
