Novice
I am looking to buy a lawn mower - I particularly like the Victa brand.

I have been shopping at various lawn mower outlets in WA and at each outlet I find the same Victa chassis packaged with a different motor.

For example at one shop I found a Victa Tornado Classic Plus with a Victa VS160 engine, at another shop I found a Victa Tornado Classic Plus with a Briggs and Straton Sprint 375 engine.

And it doesn't happen just with Victas, a Rover example: at one shop I saw a Rover Power Master with a Briggs and Straton Classic 35, at another shop it was the Power Master with a Classic 37 engine.

Because of the variations in motors and chassis it makes it difficult to figure out which is the best price and which is going to be the best mower for me and my lawn!

My question is: Why? Why doesn't every shop sell the same package?

Also, any advice or suggestions/opinions about what is the best brand, model, engine - type away...

Thanks in advance,

MowerNovice,

If you go to the Rover website they have a section to help you select the correct mower for your area.

Just click on this link: Rover Mowers

You can go to the Victa Website as well but I would recommend the Rover over Victa any day.
