I've rebuilt a few of these engine's, Honda, Chonda, and the Victa V40 OHV engine. A vast majority of the parts ARE interchangable. The governor system and mount inside the crankcase varies though. As far as the camshaft, the only thing to watch out for that comes to mind, is that there is a diference in the camshaft's for the PTO models. Unfortunately I don't have any spare at present.
The main problems I've seen with these engine's is the big end comes loose, so check the tension on the bolts while it's apart, and coil failure.
Cheers.

Have a look here, it's the parts manual for the Honda GXV120, which is what the Chonda and Victa V40 is. It shows there are two different cams. Maybe email them with a pic of yours to figure out which one. GXV120 parts.Cheers, hope it helps.

Im not sure how much that part would cost if you could find a suitable new one. But with what that chinese crap costs new i would highly doubt that its worth fixing especially once the time is added in.
Bin it, keep the carb and coil and starter for others later down the track.
I do have a sanli OHV350 motor here that someone has tried to put on a Rover base. It will be highly unlikely that i will even look at it, but its not worth my time to strip it to get the gear out either. Id say come grab it, wont cost you stuff all, id happily swap it for a Talon starter, but that might be a fair hike seeing as you live on uranus.
Ive also go two GMC mowers with the ECO4 (i think thats what they are) motors on them. I may be able to do something with them.
