I got new mulch/catch blades for my 98 victa sports but you do up the bolts and you can turn the blades by hand I've snapped one trying to do up the bolt more! Are they meant to be able to slide back? Some sort of safety thing for hitting rocks?

What the hell, it runs!

Michael_xr8,

The blades should be firm but should be able to move so that when you hit something they will swing back and not break. cheers2

Yes, they are called swing back blades.

As for breaking the bolts. Im not sure off the top of my head what the correct tension is but it is not very tight at all.

I thought they would be but every time I did them up tight I could easily turn them so out came the rattle gun but there all good now I'll just test them tomorrow and see if they swing back just cuttin grass

They will swing back, but when cutting the gass the weight of the blade and the speed they are spinning makes them throw out.

Just be sure that the bolts you have holding the bades on now have not been over tightened. A blade flying off at more than 3000rpm can do a bit of damage.
