Hi Bruce I recently got an old victa powertourque lawnmower from a junkyard. I have claened the engine and cheacked that all the seals are good but the engine either extremly overrevs (I think its at like 6000rpm) or doesnt run. Could this engine explode?.Ive checked the vacume hoses on the carby and they are fine. Please help i have no idea what has gone wrong with it. Thanks James

Shihan Ok lets start with a few questions: 1. Did you remove the starter? 2. Did you remove the section that the carby connects to on the motor? 3. On that section did you check the 'O' ring to see if it had any nicks out of it? 4. Did you pull apart the carby? I suggest that you have a look at this area on the board for information on the carby & Starter first. https://www.outdoorking.com.au/board/Forum10/HTML/000362.html https://www.outdoorking.com.au/board/Forum10/HTML/000361.html Regards, Bruce

Hey Bruce
I did not remove the starter but i did take the carby apart to clean it as it had gunk in it. All the o-rings are still in great condition and are sitting right. Ive checked the diagrams lots of times and rebuilt it just as it says. I Tried the other settings on the poppet valve today and got a slightly lower rpm but the throttle has no speed control still.

Hi Bruce I wonder could the problem be with the little button near the flywheel the creates the vacume above the poppet valve? Would this create overrevving?
Cheers James

Shihan, Yes that could have issues especially if the hole is blocked up with dirt. Regards, Bruce
