Please Help
The starter cord on my Victa MCA201A mower broke at the knot. I have tried replacing the cord but it won't retract anymore. I have tried to tension the spring but when I turn it all I here is a clicking sound.
Can anyone please advise on how to replace.
The mower is the mulch and catch model with the red cover and black plastic carb.
Thanks

Crash Pilot, If you have a look at the topic's you will see one on starters. Go topic and you will be able to view information on your power torque starter which you will get step by step (workshop manual) on how to repair your starter. Bruce,
No Probs mate, ifound it in the archives. Ive pulled it apart and will reseal tomorrow with a new 'o" ring on the shaft. 2 things though.
Is there a preferable grease used to lube the centre shaft? Will High temp bearing grease do?
Also any hints or tips for ensuring a good seal when resealing the crankcase?
Had an air leak after the first attempt at resealing it. I did replace the O-ring and lightly oiled it with engine oil also used a thread sealer. But It atarted first pull then started to scream its head of like it was running lean. I stopped it immediately and tried to start it again when the recoil spring packed it in.
So while i feel good about getting this starter assembly back together,(and not winding the spring the wrong way again) Im not so sure about sealing it?
Regards Thomas

nazzysmith0153 When you replace the starter just use any normal grease on the large 'O' ring. Put the 'o' ring on the starter before you place it on the crankcase and when you put it on check to see that it is firm before doing up the screws. Don't use thread sealer on the 'o' rong. See how you go. Bruce ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/board/biggrin.gif)
