Howdy all, long time lurker, first time poster. Anyways I'm a big fan of the powertorque donk.... albeit the Oz built jobbies. (I know, I know... some people won't like my decision but hey, I also like Camira's......)
My good ol' 20 yr+ Corsair just keeps runnin. Recently, I acquired a later model tilt-a-cut. Actually identical to Blumbly's yellow one. (But not in as good condition. It could do with some new wheels.... and probably a new round blade... and and and.....) Now, I'm chasing an owner's manual for it. I've already subscribed and downloaded the early titacut manual but I'm wondering if the later manual is available for download?

Cheers!

The powertorque mower manual shjould cover most areas you need info on, as that is the main difference between the early and late ones. If you need any precise info please feel free to ask here, myself and a couple of others have ample experience with the engine type in question laugh cheers

Thanks Joe, I appreciate it. I was wondering, is the powertorque engine interchangeable with the lawnmower version or does the tiltacut jobbie also have retarded timing like the earlier full crank powered tiltacut?
Cheers!

It would have a heavier flywheel smile otherwise I imagine most parts are swappable...

Hi GTG, and a warm welcome to the forum...and glad to see you posting. grin
We all like to learn new things and tinker here. I have an early Series 80 Tilt-A-Cut and find it a great machine..I put the circular blade on it and improved its performance heaps. First pull starting, the T-A-C are a great machine for most applications.... wink
Once again, :welcome:
cheers2

I bought my tilt a cut off eBay. I think its got a series 70 mk4 125cc motor. The flywheel was off it and the thread on the top of the crank had been damaged.
The flywheel is steel instead of aluminium so i imagine the Power torque would have the same. Or a weight and pulley in one on the bottom of the crankshaft.

If you put just a mower engine on the tilt a cut i think you would find the lack of engine inertia/ reciprocating weight would make it kick back when you try and start it. Its not a fun thing, hurts fingers bad and can damage the starter, pull the cord through the knob.

It makes sense for it to have a heavier flywheel. Ah well, I suppose I'll find out if I ever have to strip the motor down.
Likewise, I got my Tiltacut off eBay,already fitted with a round disc. Absolutely brilliant piece of machinery. Love the thing! Only issue I have with it (if you call it an issue) is that it tends to blow blue smoke. However I use the same batch of fuel in my normal powertorque mower and it's fine. The oil ratio is correct, so I wonder if it's overfuelling? Any suggestions?
Cheers!

Two obvious possibilities: carbon build-up in the muffler due to over-oiling the fuel by the previous tenant, or fairly severe blow-by due to scored piston or bore, or worn rings. You can check these things fairly easily. Remove muffler and compare its weight with a clean one, or temporarily substitute a clean one and see if the smoke goes away. While muffler is off, inspect the side of the piston for scoring, by looking through the exhaust port. To check condition of rings, check compression in comparison with another similar engine by pulling the starter cord with spark plug disconnected. Then put a spoonful of oil in through the spark plug hole and see whether compression increases.

Thanks for that Grumpy, I'll crack out the tools on the next days off and start whipping her apart!

Before ripping the engine apart it could well be worth making sure the needle and seat within the float chamber of the carby is sealing well, More often than not I have found they can cause overfuelling of the victa motors.
