Just bought a new Victa Tornado with the VSX 160. Hate the way it is governed, revs too slow when cutting then over compensates when under load. At cutting speed it is hardly above idle until you hit a clump of grass then it bogs down drops grass and starts making some decent revs after its too late. Is there any way of getting it to rev a bit higher at cutting speed so the governor doesn't have to cut in so drastically? How is it governed? Can it be adjusted?

I have the same mower with the vsx160 engine,there is not much difference between slow and flat out.the motor will rev out under load.try a hot restart, then you will hear some revs but i feel the same as you said about the governor.now that my mower has had a bit of use i am now trying ultimate 98 octain pump petrol [BP] with valvoline formular V semi syn oil at 25to1 mix it seems to rev a little harder ok bryce cul regards graham

Thanks Bruce, I'm in the process of deciphering the carby info. Are the latest models out still using the LM carby? Would you know what size top spring my particular mower would have as standard? About to check out the vacuum button in the sub-cowl to see if its adjustable.

G'day Graham, yeah i've used premium from day 1. Left over from my old victa that rarely bogged down! If i get it sorted I'll post more info.
