Gooday All,
Have just attempted my first decal for a mower. Here's how I made these.

Got on the computer and designed replica decals.

Went to local print place and purchased some A4 sheets of adhesive-backed decal paper - this has a shiny finish on the face side and peel-off paper on the back. NOTE - this is PAPER and not plastic stuff (that would probably last longer).

Remember - I am doing this with materials avalable here in this village. Not having a laser printer I waited until last night when we had our Car Club meeting - and, as I am the newsletter editor I have control of the Laser printer - heh.
Printed decals. Took them home.

I had bought some of that clear adhesive decal peel-off sheets that someone was talking about on another post. I placed this material over the top of my decals - wiped it to remove any air bubbles and then cut to size to fit on the plastic fuel tank cover.

There are some imperfections and the size and colour are not quite right. With practice I think a better job can be done. Found it hard to locate the correct font of letters to suit. I also made a "Caution decal . See pics.

If anyone needs them - I can email original computer drawings.

First - the original.

Then the replicas - hah just realised I have forgotten the two screw holes - lol.

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Looks good.

Perhaps just mess about a bit with the fonts and sizes till you can pick a match. Could even just do that in black and white on a regular paper/printer.

Gooday Rodeobob,
Yes , I have messed around with the fonts and come up with this as the best I can do.
I didn't realise you cound manually change the size of any font to whatever you like - even up to 200 sizes bigger. The pic is off the computer screen.

If I can throw in my two-bob's worth here, I've made and printed a few decals, and I print them on adhesive paper too, but then I cover them with good quality clear contact before I cut them out. Gives a really good look, but moisture can seep under the edges if they get wet. So I just don't let them get wet! hahaha

Gooday Greg,
Yes I did that - but with that clear adhesive decal paper that was mentioned in another post somewhere. This one will be going into a museum so hopefuly should not get wet.
I was going to laminate the decals - but then would have run into a problem as to what adhesive to use.

If you make the decals and laminate them , I've found that a double sided tape made by Bear , available from Bunnings (and elswhere probably ) called a carpet tape is very good , it's VERY thin and sticks like s*&^t to a blanket , no good for out in the weather though .

I guess if you put it on thin enough you could properly use liquid nails.[Censored] that stuff strong.

Here for a good time, not a long time.
