I had this dropped off by someone?, the note said they didn't want it and thought I might. So what's the verdict? Exactly how original/ good is it? I think it's in very good shape, and once cleaned up, definately wont require new paint or anything, looks good in it's original work clothes. Apparently it goes, just a carb problem. Complete set of hub caps too.

I know, that green catcher I gave away would have been perfect, but I don't go back on my word. Oh well.

I don't even know what to do with it yet.

Starter is wrong, it should have a windup on it.

Not sure about the wheels, im thinking they are the right ones with the right caps.

Looks the same as mine.

Good to have the chute.

Series 70 MKI 160cc with a G3 carby.

No decompression valve, and yep, it should have a trigger type (Sure Start) wind-up (Impulse) starter, with the chrome surround.

This is the 1971-1972 model I beleive, Although it could be 1970, can you post the serial number stamped on the engine? The serial should be here:

The only things that seem out of place to me are:
-The starter
-The red boot on the spark plusg (should be THIS)
-The Fuel tap (I beleive this mower had the whote plastic tap with red lever, not the black one)

Cheers
Ty

I was also gunna say but i forgot. With that fuel hose (should be the silver coloured one should it not??) that think will be running out of fuel with a 1/4 tank left.

I think it was the series 80 mustang, i had that out the front mowing the other day, had fuel in the tank but was playing up. Chekced and the tap is lower than the carb.

if it's 1970, it might have had the gold/silver, but i think by 71 they were starting on the black.

You're right about the bend, that needs to be worked out, a bit of new line, with a little less excess would sort that.

I can help more with the fuel line colour once i know the serial number.

Cheers
Ty

And the number is.............

5 700 2 128

Cheers, still have no idea what to do with it!

and, I've got some of those spark plug covers, and the fuel tap? I might have one.

The starter? I look for it next to the rocking horse........! hahaha

Thanks Bob and Ty.

Greg, that would be a 1970 model. In the engine number the '700' relates to 1970.

Keep an eye out. The starters pop up.

Beauty is that you can use a Zip for now and its easy to swap.

Thanks Martin. It's nearly sorta as old as me! hahaha

I read somewhere on a thread that those green starter grips are a bit hard to come by too, this has one. Maybe someone would like to do a starter swap or something. Even if the Ratchet is um... Ratsh..! I'll fix it.

Yeah, I might keep it now, cheers to you all.

I should be able to dig up what you need to make this one fully original, I'll let you know what i find.

I can bring it all along with me, once it's all fixed up, keep that zip starter and cup aside, as they are useful for most full crank victa's to test and repair starter issues.

Cheers
Ty

Thanks Ty, Magic! Will do, I've got a few different types of zip starters here. I'm going to have to look for a bigger shed soon! hahaha. At least I don't have the woman issue if I want to put clean stuff inside! Only got two dogs, and they don't mind! lol

It'll probably still be dirty when you get here, I don't like cleaning old stuff until I'm ready to concentrate on it.
