Hi guys and girls.I'm trying to find and impluse starter and starter cover.For the first model VC.Also would be interested in complete models or semi complete models.If I have to freight these items from interstate then so be it.If you have any of these parts or mowers,or know somebody who does please let me know.Thanks All

Its the V80, 1970 VC-160 (Gen 1)with a series 70 MKI Engine (No Decompression, Impulse Starter)



The cover for the starter does not attach to the starter, it screws onto the white dress cowl.

Yep, i though i had mentioned it (I have some more collection photo's to put up to, so you may like some other things in my museum)

I am a fair way out though, mind you, less than your trip to albury (I'm about 20k past braidwood)

That's ok my camera has just jumped of my desk and starter to head out the door.Hang on I better go and stop the camera and explain it won't be tonight.

It is for a 1970-1971 Victa VC-180 (First Generation: V80)



Its a plastic cover, that fits over the impulse starter, with the handle up through the middle. Unlike other impulse starter covers, this one mounts onto the plastic dress cowl, which is fitted to the base, not the engine. No poart of this cover actually fixes to the strater itself, and the starter is the type without a cover mounting bracket.

Hopefully this will help you finnish that VC-160 MKI Jeffery!

I still have to finish cleaning this one up, and getting all the plastic-corrosion off it.

I'm sure one will pop up, they are hard to find, but not particuarly rare, so one will pop up!

I don't know I'm starting to think they are rare.Only seen one other.

Nah mate, I have seen a few, You just need to be patient, and one will pop up, and ALWAYS keep a good eye on Tiny's green shed, he gets some great ones in there.

My MKI (the one with this on it) came from there, as well as 2 rare green-top auto drives, a nice 1973 Rover pedigree, a power plus self propelled, and countless VC's, as well as pleanty of other rare or uncommon machines.

Sure the things you get there need some work, but it's worth it with all the rare ones he gets.

I haven't been there in a while.It's on the wrong side of Canberra.I should take a trip there,maybe tomorrow.

I try and look there weekly, i just duck down occasionaly during lunch.

It really is worth the effort, I dont know why that place in particular gets the good ones, maybe it's just becase they get more, but they certainly do get them!

Well hopefully one isn't far of as I will need that bit soon.

Well, as i said, Send the pics up north, and see how that goes.

I will also keep an eye out for you, and I'm sure if somone spots one here you will hear about it.

Alternativly, while you wait to find it, you can just pop a Zip starter on to make it look like a regular VC-160.

Oh now now,already got impulse starter gear on top of motor.Not going back now.Yes they have all been sent photos so hopefully something will come up.Soon I hope.

No have been busy with this house inspection and hard rubbish has really taken up a lot of time.

She's being a Bitch (Sorry) have had one inspection,but she wants to see some silly things outside done again.Nothing to do with mowers.

Mine at the moment is great. No one comes here unless i ring and something needs fixing. They know the joint is twice as good as the day i moved in and im never late with the rent.

One house i lived in, we had a inspection, i spent 2 whole days cleaning the yard doing the edges (by hand with a shovel), hard yakka. Sheila turns up from the estate agent, got it out of her that they had word that the house was running as an illegal brothel. Skanky chick we were sharing with and her friend had the lebbo guys from across the road over one night, [Censored] teasted em and sent em home. They were pissed off so they letter boxed the neighbourhood saying our house was an illegal brothel, land lord only lived 5 doors up. Man was i wild.

What the...? Why would they do that? mongrels.

Yep, thats quite a low blow, Elysia and I are saving to buy soon, we have our eye on a little place, it needs a bit of work (like new roof, etc kind of work) but we want something old to restore, and It's got charicter.

Plus I could really stand to not be renting any more!

Well that certainly changed the subject a lot.Well I'm still looking for VC parts and or complete.Especially a VC-160 Mark I impulse starter guard.Also wanting VC Mustang with the G3 carby.Also any VC-125.

Ive got my eyes open.

Jeffery, this thread has gotten a little messy, and now that it looks like you have found the ring, the size and mess of the thread might mean people dont see what you are after (Mustang and 125, mentioned in later post)

Can you put what you need for your collection in a new thread, so that it will be more effective and help you find what you are after?

Once you have done this, I will close this old thread, hope this helps you get the parts you are after, and I'm glad to say it looks like we have indeed secured you the ring in the above pictures!

I will wait until I see the ring.You never know I may not be that happy,or will only use it for now until I find a better one.So will wait and see what it's like.

No to sure if this is what you are after but i spotted 2 green mustangs during a pick up last week...I was not interested so I left them there...chap was after 15-20 bucks each i guess. Send me a message if you want the details.
