I broke the cord on my Zip starter so decided to fix it by using the cord off another mower. Following the instructions in my Gregorys manual I removed the pulley only to have the spring leap out and uncoil itself rapidly!! Now I cant get it back in and it is driving me insane. I bought a new Zip starter off eBay but I really want to get the old one back together so I have a spare.
But can I get the spring back in????? NO. Is my patience running out????? YES
Is there an easy way??? The manual mentions a 'Magazine' to ease the fitting????
victamowerman, I usually tension up the spring in my hands then use a pair of long nose pliers to place it in position. Then on the rope pulley is a hole that you can put a screw driver into to line up the spring. It only takes a couple of minutes to replace the rope.
