Hello,
I've aquired a Silver Steak 2-stroke Victa mower and am trying to get it going. It has a spark, I've replaced the needle (was missing) and primer cap (was leaking), replaced air-filter(was very dirty), cleaned magneto and re-gapped to 0.13. I've checked the spark plug on another mower and the gap is 0.635mm. It sound's like it has compression (I measured 600 kPa or 90 Psi).
After reading many of the messages on this board and borrowing the Gregory's Victa manual I still can't get it to go?
Cheers,

Jolly Check for moisture around the bottom seal. You will need to remove the blade plate. If it has moisture you will have to replace the seal. Try this first and get back to me. Regards, Bruce

Hi Bruce, Thanks for the prompt reply. I had to let the blade nut soak last night in WD-40 and have removed the blade plate this morning. There doesn't appear to be any moisture? In my vain attempt to remove the blade plate I stupidly put a socket on top of the flywheel nut and a spanner on the blade nut. I then retightened when I realised that is not how you get the blade plate off. Now when I try to pull start the mower it is very jerky? I still have the blade plate off. Have I stuffed something? Kind regards,

Jolly, Put the blade plate back and make sure that it is tight. The pull back will disappear. I sthe spark a yellow colour or blue? If yellow, that mower could have a electronic module (gold colour) under the flywheel cowling. Check to see if it is loose as abad earth will affect the spark. After doing that and the spark is still yellow then replace it and the mower should go. Regards, Bruce

Hi Bruce,
I have a blue spark (checked in dark room and had a woman check it!). I?ve resolded the connection to the electronic module.
Should I block off the kill switch hole and the vacuum control button (currently disassembled)? Is it worth trying to seal the carbi to the cylinder better with some teflon tape under the O-ring (O-ring in OK condition but I can wobble the carbi a little)?
What is a good start procedure? Position throttle on ?run?, or ?start?? How many times should it be primed before trying to start? How many pulls should I try (or just keep going until my arm drops off)? I think I?m getting stronger I?ve tried starting it so many times! I?ve got unleaded petrol, is this OK? I?m using a 1:25 2-stroke oil mix.
Cheers, Jolly

Jolly, If the plastic block that is screwed to the cylinder is loose then remove it a replace the 'o' ring behind it. Also replace the 'O' ring on the plastic block. I am going to send information on the carby as I think that you have done something incorrect before I give you any more information. Let me know once you have read the carby information.
