I have a Victa Power Torque two stroke which I took to a supposed horticultural engineer to be repaired. He claimed the bore was scored and this would prevent my mower from running again. Once home I replaced the head and got the mower running. Only problem is there is a lot of Oil/petrol appears to be leaking from the head. Would fitting a new gasket to the head cure this problem and if so would a scored bore cause any major problems. Looking inside the mower I could not feel any heavy scoring.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

A head gasket for this engine costs virtually nothing so its got to be worth giving it a go. At best your mower will run....at worst youve lost a dollar or so. Make sure the head bolts are tightned in a 'criss cross' pattern and hopefully you will be ok.
