Hi Guys, Jeffery gave me a number of trimmers yesterday, one of whitch, i cannot identify.

Anyone seen this before, i noticed the tank shape and position, fuel filter and surround over the spark plug seemed unique to me, so they might help.

I don't know if it's unique, Ty. Do you think it's the same as this one?

By Unique i may have been overstating, but it may be safer to say that the 1/2 wraping tank and the intake are something that can narrow it down.

And yep, that craftsman seems to be an exact match, Craftsman 1605, is there anything else you can tell me about it? (Not a worry if you can't, what youve given me here is fantastic!)

Cheers
Ty

I'll attach two pages from the Moaner Annual Ty. Most of the rest of it is about the line dispenser head.

I don't know if you'll be able to read it - the scan looks sufficiently detailed, but I don't know how it will post.

Thanks Grumpy, Thats Perfect!

I like to keep records of everything i get, and the most important details are Make, Model, and Engine Make & Model, As well as the year, which i can often track through the serial, once i know who made it.

So MSAA Craftsman 1605, With a 15.9cc Mitsubishi T50M-D Engine.

I'll pop up the year when i find it out!

Oh, and no chance you know the fuel mix? (25:1 I might guess?)

Ty, the red plastic fuel cap says fuel to oil ratio 25:1 or 20:1. Incidentally, carburetor is a Walbro WA.

Deejay, it was easy - that is the only line trimmer I own at present. Ty's picture looked familiar, so I looked at the machine, found it matched, and took a couple of pictures with my phone. When I bought the machine on ebay, it came with the original box of accessories, plenty of spare line, interchangeable aftermarket line head, plastic blade, and a military jerrycan of fuel. One of the accessories was the owner manual. Cost me $20 all-up.

What a good score grumpy, all that for $20. That was a steal; the local mower shop would probably charge that for the owners manual.
PS... It might be a good idea to upload that to that manuals area!! wink
good1 mate!!

That is a good score Grumpy.

No chance you could check the fuel mix on your cap next time you fill up, as i cant make it out in your pictures, and my machine came without the cap.

I had a closer look at it last night, and by memory my carburettor is indeed a Walbro WA, i think it was WA 74 to be exact.

Cheers
Ty

Hi Ty, if you check the first line in grumpys last post, the red plastic fuel cap says fuel to oil ratio 25:1 or 20:1. grin

Ty, the 25:1 and 20:1 are given as alternatives on the cap (presumably depending on severity of service). Here is a picture of the cap:

I've also shown the air vent that is part of the fuel filler cap. It is a tiny bloop tube type, and is a bit prone to getting stuck shut if the tank is left with stale fuel in it for a few years. I think the petrol dries up then the oil oxidises and forms a kind of glue. If it happens, it has to be fixed (wash it in petrol and squeeze it a few times).

Ah, thanks for that Grumpy, i misunderstood the first time, i thought you were saying you recalled it ti say one of the two, not both.

I will get ther up and runnin on 25, and see how she goes for heat, I wont be putting it through the toughest conditions.

I think i have a cap very similar to that, so i will see how i go.

Cheers
Ty
