Picked this up today, seems an early one to me.

The Serial is different to the ones i'm used to on tecumseh, but I think its from 1960, 1966 or 1976.

Anyone know how to work out the older techumseh lables?

The Label:

Model: TE32 0044C
Serial: 5124 02660

And on the base there is the toro serial: 09120 566414

I'm noting both serials have 66 in them, could that be 1966?

Here are some pics:

I like it because its different! It would be worth turning that starter back around to pointing backwards though so you dont pull the mower onto yourself!

I might well do that, this one is set to get at least an good clean up and overhaul.

I found it at tiny's shed, at the tip, and i can say, it stood out to me by a mile among the old steel base victa's and rover's from the late 90's!

Cheers Bob!

Quite an interesting little one, I have not seen one like that before.

I have a Masport 460 with a base just like that, It has a 1980 Briggs 92908 on it, Your engine looks like it would be older than 1980 to me, but i dont know them that well.

Do you know it's ange, and if it's the original to that base?

If it had its air-cleaner we could see if it is an old Tecumseh from the 1970 period (i.e. a Kirby-Lauson 2-stroke variant of some kind). The ones I recall had impulse start, so the whole top area looked different, but it looks rather like the old carburetor.

I have a feeling the carby on mine is a bit different, I'll get some pics up if i can!

I know with mine the air filter does not seem right, well the hose anyway, it wraps right around the font and side of the engine, before going to a metal box in the middle of the handles.

Not sure about it.

I got it for $6 off ebay.

I highly doubt its the right motor for the base. Im tipping 70's motor on a late 70's or early 80's base.
