Yes I seen that one,I have my eye on it.I was sort of looking for more of one that I could restore. That one is the model I'm after, but I wouldn't have to do anything with that one it's already been done.

Just so you know, the one in this add has the plastic carby, they moved the hose to the other side the next year, but there was one run with the plastic carby hose on the same side as the metal carby. (Look at the air filter/throttle, its the combined G4/LM box type, not the 2 separate white ones for the G3 Carby)
Cheers Ty

Yes I think you might be right there. That's ok I don't think I'm going to get it.I want one I can restore, not one that has already.Wouldn't be the same.

That one has the wrong catcher. Catcher is the lower one off a later model by the look of it.

Yeah the 'olive' green one.
Ive got a couple of good ones here and mowers for them to go on. Im just too far away and they are common enough. If im right they came in green and green cover, MkIII and MkIV. and green and white cover not sure if this was MkIV, i know it was MkIII. Ty will know.
That one is off a high arch. Not the original gold one but one of the models. Perhaps a silver streak, maybe they had a twin grip. Something in between the high arch and the later twin grip catcher that was in two halves.
Heres the trick. Wait for hard rubbish. Then the day beofe the pickups start when people have everything out and the bandits have taken the loot, drive about and there are catchers everywhere. They cant sell them as scrap steel so they dont bother.

From what I can work out, there were a number of Mustang Releases, in 3 Major changes.
1) The Early ones with the Series 70 MKIII Engine (G3 Metal Carby, Deco Valve, Etc) This one was available in the green base, green top, green catcher 'Blob' look, and also in red and white (Red Base, White Top, Red Catcher) and was very late on released in Green and White (green base + Catcher, white top)
2) The Mid ones, with the plastic carby, facing backwards (These first had no primer bulb, then later they had the remote primer bulb) these came in the all green blob style, and the green and white style
3) The later ones, Plastic carby, facing forward with the white face, and black primer bulb, the dress cowl was given allowance for the air intake tube to pass through the far side of the cowl, and up the (operators) right hand side. These again came in green and white, and green on green, and somewhere during the run of this mower, the 'VC' was dropped from the name and towards the end, the green on green was dropped too.
Right throughout the catchers maintained the same style as far as i can tell (though you often see the wrong ones) they were the rounder thumb catch ones, in green or red.
Would it help if I did a little ID Guide thread on the mustang? I am picking up a fair bit of interest in it.
Cheers Ty

I'm not having much luck in finding any though Rodeobob.May just have to come visit and get some of you.I have to go to Shepparton soon.As far as hard rubbish we don't do it here in Canberra. Can't have our streets littered with rubbish.Oh well I'm sure that what the pollies say. They do,do it in Queanbeyan however. I just don't know when.Maybe some of us lawnmower heads should get together when it's on and do a collection as a team.Might cover more ground then.Find more treasures.Come on guys put your hands up I'll be in on that.

Yeh sounds like a good idea Blumbly..I'm in for a team effort if ya like. I reckon that would make us Commandos looking for Commandos..or in your case a VC!! WIll see if I can find some info on the local NSW council clean up dates. Update - nup not happening - seems QCC now have a similar system to ACT where each house gets 2 personal collections allocated each year that need to be booked in. So no 'usual' council collections around here.

Bugger, well, I'll keep my ears open, and find out if some of the small towns like Bungendore, Sutton or Michelangelo have anything.
I really miss hard rubbish, used to have it in Mittagong when i was a kid, and i would borrow a trolley from woollies, god mum hated it!
Might be an idea if we keep an eye on the tips though, if anything interesting pops up, and one of us decides not to take it when we are there, let others know, might be able to beat the parts thieves!
Cheers Ty

That's sounds like the way to I could certainly help with that. How about you VictorVicta? Let's band together and help each other out with our collection.I'm thinking about going to the coast with my trailer when the hard rubbish starts, see what interesting mowers I can dig up.If I decide to do that maybe you guys could let me know what sorts of things you are after and I would keep a look out.

Ok would most likely be an overnight stay, but accommodation is very very easy for me to arrange.Don't worry about cost,it would only be meals we need to worry about.

Ok Ty,it depends on what part of the eurobodalla shire we want to go to.As the first pick-ups from council start on 18 July from Tilba to the Narooma bridge. Then north Narooma 25 July. Then scatted dates through August and the last date is 5 September from Surfside (North Batemans Bay) to south Durras. So there is a wide range of dates and if it requires more than one trip then so be it.As I said accommodation is not an issue.Let me know what you want to do.As I not fussy as to when I can go.

Well, seems to me the Weekend of the 16th & 17th would be a good one, start at Tilba, and work our way up to the Bridge.
I Will have to check the dates with Elysia tonight, but I cant see it being too much of an issue.
Maybe if you could get out my way friday Arvo, that will put us at a better starting point for saturday, and you can have a look at the collection, then in the morn we get on the way to Tilba, and work our way back up, finising on sunday,
If we fill up before we finnish, i would say keep going, as we may spot something better and want to swap it over.
The only issue i can think of is if we find any mowers we are both 'heart set' on, but maybe a coin toss would be the solution in this case? (Or trade-off "ok, you take that VC-Auto, I'll take this VC MKI")
Cheers Ty

Ok then sounds good to me.We can work on that as a starting point.Maybe doing the Friday would be better that way wouldn't have to travel Saturday morning, and I'm sure if we find something we both want I'm sure we will find some kind of agreement that will benefit the both of us.After all it promises to be a fun weekend without the wife woo hoo.Don't tell her I said that.

No worries, I'll confirm with Elysia and we can go from there. I'm happy to help with the driving if need be, so friday 15 sounds good.
Anyone have any "if you see X and dont want it yourself..." requests?
Cheers Ty

i have a vc mustang ,its green and i have spent a weekend fixing (i have had a second one which you can have for parts but i basically gutted the 2 and made 1 decent one and the second one is basically for spare parts). The mower has the correct catcher n everything and the mower is the remote primer version, runs well, let me know if your interested (small crack in cowl and small crack in catcher but its easily fixed with araldite). think i have placed a new set of blades on as well. ![[Linked Image from s2.postimage.org]](http://s2.postimage.org/997c8mhdb/mustang.jpg)

Hey Guys re the mower road trip....That's the weekend of the Wagga and Liverpool swap meets so can't make it for that one. Will keep in touch for future trips though esp, the BBay area sounds like a good spot (that's 29 August). I'm keen on any wind up start Victas or any flat top high arch Victa Commandos with the power torque engine.
