Hi all,
Photos added below.
Was given a Victa slasher, powered by a Powertorque, on the weekend.
Can anyone give me any details at all an this machine.
Any model numbers, photos/pics, what engine pack, age, any info. at all.
I wish to bring this back to it's former glory and have a good reliable unit to put to use on the property.
The handle has had a bit of dodgy repair work done to it at the base and I will probably replace the engine as I have a couple of good V35 pacs available.
All help appreciated.

I cant remember off the top of my head if this applied to the powertorque slaskers, but some of these mowers use an engine with a longer shaft, which would make it difficult to swap engines. if this is the case with yours, if the engine has sound compression and spark, just try restoring it, its a normal pwertorque from the plate up, it just may have a longer shaft underneath.

I may have some diagrams for this machine at home, i will check tonight.

the blade system is belt driven by a pully at the end of the crankshaft, its not to much more complicated than a normal victa 2-stroke, just bigger and belt driven, it's not even self propelled, so no gear box to worry about.

with the missing wheel, try comparing it to the rear wheel off the back of a mustang, i think it might be a match.

Yes,the blades are belt driven and belt will be replaced.
The front wheels are the same as the 8" mustang rears , which I have a couple of good-uns to use.
The engine cylinder head has a couple of broken fins on it and I haven't had a chance to do any inspection/assessment/comparisons with what I have "in stock" and the muffler is missing (standard powertorque box muffler which I have spare).
Dunno exactly what happened to the handle and dodgy "repair" job.
Seems the spring for the height adjuster is missing, can see evidence of one being there but do not know where it was attached to the rod. The fuel tank needs to be attached properly also, and who knows what else........
Hope I can gather enough information to do the job thoroughly.

I had a look at my early 70's Super 24:
1. The stub axles had worn oval, so I fitted trolley wheels with mild steel bushes.
2. The handle is very simple and the tank clamps between the uprights
3. The height adjuster spring is to the right of the pulley and the belt tensioner to the left. [Linked Image]

That motor believe it or not should be a 5hp power torque. Straight in inlet and im not sure what else they did to get the extra power.


Not sure what you could do about the handles.

Best thing would be to pull it apart. Wont be that hard to get back together.


i would be intrested to know what the blade disc is like on it give its condition.


I have one of those motors here (i assume its original) and its just a standard Power torque, had a pressed steel type pulley on the bottom in place of the blade plate. A rather worn pulley at that.

I used to have a powertorque with a straight inlet, been wondering for years what that was all about.

As far as i can work out that inlet is part of the V50 pack, found on the 505 and the 550 600 and the 460 something or rather late model utility.
Anything thats got a tank thats not mounted on the cover.


Im not sure if the block/ports were different some how. Perhaps combustion chamber in the head. Perhaps the muffler. The inlet and the large tube up to the throttle.
I can check the head out, might find a different one here. I got a utility here thats got that manifold, some farmer had a fiddle with it and trashed it.
Ive also got a head with a not machined out off decomp hole, not sure what thats off.

Not sure about that one in the pic above with the small tube.
I also had a late model alloy corvette (400 i think) that had the large tube on it.

What did the v45 consist of?

UPDATE.....
Hi All,
The local mower/marine shop in town supplied me with a copy of the chassis assembly. (see below)
This will help when the refurbishment commences.
The windrower, and where it bolts onto the chassis, on the model after is different so I'd say this is the one.
The front wheel assy. are 7" but the remaining one that is on the machine is 8", hmmm......
Spring (CH84933A, and clip- located near drive belt on diagram) I think is for the height connecting rod/link as the clip would fasten over the raised dimple on the base. Where it hooks up to on the rod/axle assy. I don't know yet.
Hope this diagram may be useful to others.
