Hi I am rebuilding two minibikes and have a couple of victa 125 cc motors that have come from rotary mowers.

Both run but backfire at full throtel.
I have the following questions I hope some one can help me with.
1 The original centrifical clutch is a heavy item , does this act as a fly wheel and is some modification required if a largere clutch is fitted.
2 Given a lighter clutch /no fly wheel does the timing need to be changed ?
3 The air filter apears to have a restrictor orriface. Is this necessary for the air/fule mix. I have tried running with out the air filter and the performance is worse.
4 Does any one know of a slide type carby with adjustable/replacable jets that can be used on these motors.
Any help at all would be apreciated.
Thanks

brettsmith,
The heavy clutch acts as the flywheel. If you try to run the motor without the clutch the timing will be out and you are unable to adjust it.
As to the carby you can get some different jet sizes in order to get it to run with a different length of air hose.

Thanks.
I have also seen these orange 125 motors used on pumps and as stationy engines.Did victa make a heavy flywheel/fan when these units where not used on motor mowers .

What information do i need, carby type engine number, ID ect to order the diferent jets.

Do you think the backfire is timing related or mixture related ?
Any help is apreciated.
Thanks

Brett,
I will forward you some information on the old style Victa carby's. I hope that it will help you. The carby jets you will only get second hand as they are no longer available.
The backfiring problem can be both carby and flywheel.
