Hi All,

I'm reliving my youth with my son and building a fun kart for him to muck about with. My experience from 20 years ago was to use a 125cc Victa with centrifugal clutch, Mikuni carb, shaved head for greater compression, enlarged ports and home-made tuned exhaust pipe.

The result was a cantankerous beast that would threaten to break your arm on starting but went like the proverbial "powers of piss" when unleashed on the local (then uncrowded) suburban streets. Even the police agreed that they had never seen a Victa go so fast. But I digress...

I've got a Victa Twin that I've resurrected from the dead and was considering using it on the new project.

Before canibalising the Twin though I thought it wise to check and see if Victa Twins have any value as a collectors item in original condition (still works as a mower but doesn't have a catcher).

If it does have any value, are the recent Victa motors suitable for go-kart applications or should I keep looking for something older like I used all those years ago?

Cheers,

Andrew

HI Andrew, I replied to this yesterday but it looks like it did not make it. This is only my own opinion, so the final decision is entirely up to you. I would rebuild the Twin you have now as they are now scarce in good restored condition. Bruce (Victa Man) has a new catcher for a Twin at his mower shop and you can contact him by emailing spare parts on this site. I would chase up another motor to play around with for the go-kart as this is for fun. If you scroll back to February of this year on this page you will see 15 replies to the subject relating to the Twin, I have commmented with some imfo on the last post (15) about the Twin, if you require anything else leave your email on this post . Cheers Brett.
