I retired last year, but then the bug got me......
I own/operate a small caravan park in Victorias Western District, Lake Bolac, since March 2010.
So, if you like boating, fishing, golfing, tennis, drop in...I inherited a couple of very old, worn and tired lawn mowers.

1. Victa Professional Super 600 (very sick)
The problem with this one is the pull start, where the helical spring keeps on slipping from it's intended place.
Quick fix would be, I suppose, using a pull start similar to the old Seagull Outboard motor.

2. Farm trike ride on mower: Also quite sick.
It's using a 12 HP B+S as the powerplant.
This one was manufactured by T.L. Watson Engineering Ltd. Avondale, Auckland.
Quite an effective machine, but how difficult is it to get spare parts?
Anyhow enough from me.
Best regards to all
Frank

Hi Frank, and a big warm :welcome: to the forum . It's good to have you aboard.
To enable us to help with your problems, we will need some info from you and preferably a photo of each machine to aid identification. wink
Can you supply the model and serial numbers of both the Victa and the farm trike (usually under the seat or on the back) and any numbers on the engines.
This may help us track down parts lists and manuals that you may need, to get them both running sweetly.
Once again Frank, welcome. grin

Hi all and Deejay,

Sorry for the long delay. I am just soooo bloody busy right now with repairs and upkeep to my park, but the grass is catching up as well. :-(
Just uploaded a pic with Image shack. It's a bit of a mystery to me where it may turn up. :-) or IF.
[Linked Image from img72.imageshack.us]

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

It's the image of my Victa Professional Super 600 mower where the recoil starter system has gone. (Spring is stuffed and I have not got the time to keep on stuffing with it).

If the pic turns up, great. If psare parts are available, that would be great, probably need the complete starter asembly. OR
if some kind soul has something like this available (Victa Professional Super 600) maybe even self propelled, I'd be happy to buy it for a fair price.

Best regards to all.
Frank

Good news is, The recoil is generally repairable with a spring and reel kit, or the starter of any victa powertorque motor will bolt right on.

A whole new starter assembly is [retty expensive, but cheap as compared to buying another super 600

Thanks Joe,

From where can I get the starter of a victa powertorque motor?
Or a new spring/reel kit?
Can I order it from here?
My working day is rarely less than 10 hours a day, 7 days a week, so I don't want to spend too much time repairing things, if I can help it.
I suppose, replacing the complete starter will be the better option.

Best regards
Frank

As for finding a second hand one try hitting up ebay, or curbside collection, they can be found just about anywhere.

I would also reccomend a new O ring to go under the starter, just be careful while fitting it up as somettimes they spring down while installing the starter to the block.

Thanks Joe,

I should have looked earlier at the web site. Anyhow I just ordered the spring and starter reel, so lets see what happens.
I got some hard to get at places here, far to rough for the poor old sit on Farm Trike.

Best regards

Hello Gurus,

I installed a new (2nd.Hand) assembly and it starts OK, but not long after, power will reduce and the motor conks out, especially if it has a bit of work to do.
I suspect its the carburettor, it's fairly old and probably all the innards need replacing, maybe better to get a new carburettor for it, as it saves me stuffing around.
To the gurus, is there an "universal" carburettor or if not which one do I need for this machine.
Any help gratefully received. ItοΏ½s a good machine, just like me a bit long in the tooth but not old enough to retire yet. :-)

Best regards
Frank

The symptom you describe could easily be an air leak into the crankcase, caused by the O ring under the starter not being properly fitted, or needing to be replaced. I suggest you start there and only attack the carburetor if it's not the O ring you have just finished fitting.
