Hi All

I picked up a Ryobi weedeater that runs great, starts after 2 pulls. It is an older model that is at least 10 years old. Now onto the problem.
At some stage the fuel lines have been replaced, but now fuel leaks from where the fuel line connects to the tank, it leaks quite badly and can drain the tank.
Is there any type of sealant that I could put around the fuel line connection or is the weedeater missing a part?
At the moment the line is attached to a fuel filter right at the bottom of the tank.
Look forward to hearing back from you guys

cheers2

Any sealant that is not damaged by petrol will do the job, but may not be the best solution. I had the problem once with a Partner chainsaw: I bought it with the tank fuel-line seal missing. I went to a mower shop and the counter-jockey fished a generic line-and-seal out of a parts drawer and snapped it straight in. I had to buy a fuel pickup filter to match, but the result was as good as new.

If you have to use sealant, choose one that is rated for use immersed in petrol. Silicone RTV (room temperature vulcanising) is the obvious choice, but isn't very cheap. At the other extreme, ordinary epoxy will work for a year or two before the petrol breaks it down.

Hi Grumpy thanks for the good advice as always, I think I will head down to the local mower shop and see what the have, I will let you know the outcome.

Once again Grumpy thanks for your help with this and the other mowers I have needed help with, your advice is always much appreciated.

cheers

Hey, we all come here to have fun, including me. Working out what is wrong is great when you don't have to get your knuckles skinned and your hands dirty.

a whole fuel line and filter kit cost me $12 from the outdoor king web shop last time. its not so easy to fit but take your time and you will be right. the sealant will probably cost $12 alone, but is useful for other things as well.
