I have a Ryobi Grass Scorpian weedeater. The fuel tank leaks and is broken is it possible to still get hold of these fuel tanks? It only has one fuel line that feeds into the carby (it also does not have a primer, not sure if it is supposed to have one or not). The choke is just a little round knob that you turn in and out. It has always started well with air filter removed but will not start with the air filter in place, any ideas on this issue as well.

Bruce is the guy on parts availability, I'll leave that issue to him. Normally a carburetor that has a choke will not have a primer, and vice versa. If your engine will start with the filter removed but not with it in place, it tells you two things. One is that the filter is rather restrictive, and probably needs to be cleaned or replaced. The second is that the main jet has been tuned with the air filter removed, or was tuned before the filter became blocked up with crud. You need to clean or replace the filter, then tune the carburetor with the filter in place.

I also have a leaking fuel tank. This one from a Ryobi Lawn Hornet. It appears that there is a plug in the tank that is possibly there as a safety release valve. Any clues as to if this is a repairable item as getting tank off is not proving to be easy.

Can you post a picture of the plug? That might help get people focused.

have ou got a photo of the machine? as I have not had dramas getting the tank off before, if you remove the fuel lines from the engine end it should come out once you have removed the bit that clamps it in.

I have attached photographs of motor and the area that I believe is a venting point.

NOTE: hole being referred to is little dark circle.

Getting fuel tank off seems to require that the drive shaft in front of cowling needs to be removed. Any clues as to how to remove?

Removing the four screws that hold on the black plastic peice on the back of the motor, followed by removing the black plastic pece the fuel tank should come right out.

Many thanks. Had removed the screws but it was a bit stuck. One good pull and off it came. Now to figure out how to plug the hole.

Still looking for info as to where I can obtain a plug for the Ryobi Hornet Fuel Tank.
