Hi,
I'm new to the forums.
I have just recently restored a model 33 scott bonnar with a 78cc BSA engine. Does anybody have any way of dating the mower? On the brass tag, it states:
mower no. 33 00989

RS&J, If you have a look at the post that Deejay has made you will find what the numbers mean like the 33 stands for the model and the others represent the date. When he returns from his break I am sure that he will let you know.

Hi Jamie, Sorry it has taken so long to reply, but I'm just getting back into the swing of things after my hols in Brisvegas. To your question, Your machine should be a 16" Model 33 manufactured at the earliest in 1960. The numbers on the brass data plate after the model number:(33) are the mower number which do not run necessarily sequencially, but could mean that your machine is Number 989 in the production run. You cannot, unfortunately, date any Scott Bonnar exactly by the data plate information. Hoping this helps,

Hi Jamie, on two fabulous restorations. You can sure see where the Model 45 came from, after looking at the pic of your Model 33. Very similiar in many respects. Thanks for uploading them.
