Hi guys,
My cutter chain came off while mowing today and after some fiddling I think the chain has had enough as the adjustable nylon spacer is as far as it can go and the chain is still quite loose. Do I need new chain or can you take a few links out of the chain somehow. If I need a new one where is the best place in Brisbane??

Hi Boeing,
As a rule of thumb when a chain on my ride on or reel mower jumps off by its self ie: without any reasonable explanation I replace it.
If the chain is stretched it will continue to distort the sprockets and cause wear, so its safer to replace it. Also look at the drive sprocket, if it has thin pointy teeth or missing ones replace it too. A new chain will soon be thrashed by a worn sprocket. As far as I know the bigger sprockets dont wear as much because they always have more surface contact, and share the load more evenly.

I would not be taking links out but replacing the chain.

This is the CHAIN that you need. cheers2

Hi boeing, that's good advice from Jay and Bruce, check your sprockets for wear (pointy teeth)and replace 'em if worn. I have a mate that replaced just the chain and the new chain was cactus in only a few hours of being fitted. wink
It turned out to be a very expensive error of judgement!! cry
