1. Sometimes I draw my own gasket templates on the computer. I've just completed one for a Briggs & Stratton Sprint 375 engine. Am I allowed to share this with others here? If so, how/where?

2. I need some maths help to complete it. I measured the holes in the gasket as 7mm. I think Briggs & Stratton are USA - so it should be imperial, not metric. Does anyone know what the proper standard imperial size should be (in sixteenths, not decimal) for a 7mm hole? Then I can add that info to the template.

3. The engine model is 98902 and type is 2163 E1. I think the OEM part number is 692218. Could someone please confirm this so I can add that to the template as well?

The US is changing to metric, and I'd be surprised if the current Chinese B&S engines are not metric (though I've been surprised before - it happens). 7 mm is 0.276", which is a bit less than 9/32" (0.281"). Holes in gaskets are always oversize to allow clearance around the bolts or studs that go through them - your 7 mm hole may be intended to allow clearance for a 1/4" (0.250") bolt.

Thanks to both...

I printed and cut it out, stamped the holes out with a 7mm hollow punch, then lay it on the sump. It seems to be a perfect reproduction. I make them by laying the sump (or a gasket if it's in usable enough condition) on my scanner. Then I "trace" the gasket using a graphic drawing program.

I haven't put the motor back together yet, because the last couple of days I've been trying to replace what I believe is called a "skirt" - ie. a circular section of metal strip that fits just behind the front axle. I assume it's there to keep the grass circulating until it's thrown backwards into the catcher - and - to protect the front axle bushes from damage while mowing.) Realised it was missing when I noticed two large pop rivet holes either side of the deck, with nothing attached.

Anyway, I guess I'd better poke one of the bolts through the holes first, to check it's as good a copy as I first thought.

Sorry I haven't done this yet. Hey Deejay... Am I supposed to actually upload them to the site, or post them somewhere like photobucket and just post a link?

Also, I've saved it in several formats:

53.8KB *.jpg
8.29KB *.gif
12.1KB *.pdf (Adobe Acrobat file)
24.5KB *.doc (Microsoft Word document)

Which format should I share? (Or should I export it as something else again?)
