Hi everyone, I was just curious to the viability of adding a section to the forum where members can post and share videos on simple engine repair procedures? Regards Jay

Hey Jay, a good suggestion; in the meantime you can do that now by posting in the appropriate thread; ie. 2 stroke,4 stroke engines in the "Questions on Lawnmowers and Engines" topic in general threads. We welcome all input to the forum and we thank you for your input mate, keep 'em coming!
Please do not PM me asking for support. Please post your questions in the appropriate forums, as the replies it may receive may help all members, not just the individual member. Kindest Regards, Darryl

Jay that is a good suggestion and it can be done without to much trouble. If you can supply in detail where you think it should be so that all members will be able to find it easy enough. i.e A separate area just for videos and broken down into sections like mower repairs videos, brushcutter repair videos etc etc. So if everyone wants to put their two cents worth in it would be appreciated so we can do something about it soon.

I think having an area for videos into different sections, brushcutters, mowers & chainsaws would be the way to go.

G'day, I haven't been on for a few days, but do agree it would be best to separate it into different sections. I don't know whether copy write laws would permit YouTube ect videos being added into the area? It should help members to identify and resolve problems quickly, so they will be back in their way quickly. Regards Jay

You can link YouTube to your forum, the only caveat being copyright material that is posted on YouTube illegally lifted from other sources. For example, if someone posts a movie and that movie is just been released on DVD and someone complains that its on your forum, then that can be an issue. If you are just linking videos that have been placed by users on YouTube and are not copyrighted there should be no problem.

Unless your name is D***d M***n he got rellay annoyed when Bruce fixed his video link into his thread, and went right off about copyright.

Chris if they upload the video and it is not embedded then one would assume that it has a copyright but if it has the embedding code then one would say that it has no copyright. If they do not wish other sites to display their video's all they have to do is protect it by making sure that it does not have the embedding code, which is an option on Youtube. Another option is that we will be asking people / members to email or post their video's to us with a consent allowing us to use it on the site. We will then be putting it into a video format (which we can do now as we have bought the software), which we will be hosted on this forum. It will say that we have the rights / permission to play along with a thank you to the member / person that has supplied it. Let me know what you think of this suggestion.

Jay, I would be looking at adding another Forum which would have sub forums (which would be locked as we do not want post in the area) for different problem solving video's. You would be able to use the search interface to just search that forum which is available already just by clicking the advanced word when clicking the search button at the top of the forum and then you can select which forum you wish to search. This feature can be quite helpful because you don't get all the other forums included in the search. Let me know what you all think as it will not take that long to set up. The hard part is getting the video's from YouTube, Google etc and seeing if the members of the forum are able to assist with their own video's which we can edit and just have them hosted here on the forum rather than use YouTube etc which I think some members of the forum would prefer. If everyone puts their two cents worth in it would be great before we insert the new forum/forums but I think it would be best to just start with one and see how it goes.
