I have a Husqvarna ride on with a 15.5HP B&S 4 stroke motor.
The starter motor has carked-it and I have been quoted $294 AUD for replacement new one!
Does anyone know where you can get used starters or get this type of starter fixed. The problem is with the magnets inside the sleeve body which have cracked (most likely due to me hitting the body with a hammer!)

G�day Dave,
I too live on the Mornington peninsular, and would recommend contacting mal at all small machinery in Somerville (5977 9506), or Hastings mowers (5979 1382) as they are fairly cheap when it comes to second hand items.
If the starter motor is the same as 12hp ones I may be able to help you out if you get stuck (providing I have one to suit).

Davo Check the online store HERE for electric starters as they start new from $152 which is a lot different to the $294 that you are quoting. If they don't have the starter listed just email them and quote your model number and I am sure that they will beat any price that you have been quoted.

Thanks for that Jay. I tried Hastings Mowers, they were not interested in fixing, do not carry a second and quoted $250 new. I will try Small Machinary in Somerville.
