Hi everyone, First time to this forum and hoping I might be able to get some guidance. I recently purchased a Scott Bonnar 45 with the intent learn about lawn mowers and be able to work on it myself. I brought this machine knowing it had a clutch bolt missing ( at least thats what the seller told me). The machine itself looks in good knick, but the red clutch part move when started. As you can see in the picture there is a black hole visible and was wondering if anyone might know what this is and what the missing part is that I need? I think it is Engine Shaft Clamp Pin, but am a novice.

Thanks
Thomas

Hi thomas18,

The pin is no longer available but you can buy the engine side and it depends on the engine shaft size as to which one you purchase.

Thanks. Does the missing part appear to be the engine shaft clamp pin shown in the Model 45 parts diagram?

Also, how can I determine the shaft size? Is the mower ok to operate without this, or will I cause further damage? What is the engine side?

Hi thomas18,

Yes that is correct about the pin.

If you operate it you could damage the engine shaft. The engine side of the clutch is the part i am refering to whichi is the left side of the clutch in your image.

Thanks for your help its much appreciated. Do you know the part number or name of the engine-side clutch component I need to buy?

And how do i find out the shaft size?

Hi thomas18,

The shaft size is the diameter of the engine shaft you just need a tape measure.

The parts are available from any mower shop just supply these numbers to them or do a google search.

Part Numbers are:
GA Spares.

CHD2850 5/8" shaft Genuine Scott Bonnar Part Number A453835

CHD2851 3/4" shaft Genuine Scott Bonnar Part Number A455531

thanks again. Last question for now.................... "I've inspected the hole closely and can't see any threads. Does the replacement engine-side clutch body (Part A453835 or A455531) incorporate the clamp pin arrangement that has failed?"
