hi all, iv'e got a victa mower engine and it has a lever start, i dont like it cause it keeps breaking and i have to always reset the tiny spring, so i pull a pull start chord but there is way too much compression and have already snapped 2 new cords on first pull, so i dought a decompression valve and fitted it but there nowhere on the (obviously aftermarket ) carby to connect the decompression valve pipe ....... im imagining i have to drill a hole into the carby somewhere has anyone got any tips ? thanks in advance

It is obviously an early full crank motor and the decomp hose fits on the little pipe on the inlet tube manifold between the carby and the barrel. I have never looked but as some motors came without decomp valves this tube may not have been fitted. Easy enough to drill but finding a bit of steel tube to put in there might be a problem
I have just had a thought, does this motor have a blade carrier fitted?
You must be using the wrong rope or you must have big shoulders if you can break a cord on one pull
