Hi guys. I'm pretty new on here and I'm after some help. I'm currently restoring a Rover Ranger, from the mid 1960's. I am currently stripping down the deck to get it cleaned up for painting. When it comes to the spindle I can't quiet work out how to remove it. I don't want to damage it so I'm wondering if anyone has experience removing these spindles. I'll include some pics to give you an idea of the situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kevin.

Hi Kevin,
These are a great little rideon, rugged and so basic. I just rebuilt one for my daughter and they are super happy with it. One thing I did find that I couldn't work out was the blade bar was sharpened on the wrong edges. I ended up having to sharpen the opposite edges. Not sure what was going on there

Hey Norm, I love these old mowers. I remember them as a kid. That's so cool that you rebuilt one for your daughter, they are so solid for sure mate. This one has 4 swing back blades, and someone has put a 5hp Honda engine on it in the past. I don't think they ever came with Honda engines. Once I'm done, I'll share some pics. Thanks for your reply mate. Cheers.

Hey thanks Norm. That was interesting mate. Looks pretty cool with that paint job. Yours is a bit different to mine. And your right about getting the wheels off. What a job that turned into, rusted grub screws, the wheels were frozen onto the axle and in the end, I had to drill the grub screws out and use a wheel puller to get the spacers and the bearings off. Just to get the axle out. I finally got it all apert yesterday. I'm going to send the major parts to get them sandblasted and powder coated. The rest I can do with my own gear.

Did you make that battery holder mate, that's really nice man. That's what I meant by different. And that was handy that you put in the info about bonding the brake material.

Man, I don't know what the weather is like down in Melbourne today, but it's bloody cold in New South today. Cheers mate. K

Hi Kevin,
I rebuilt the deck so it would look the part and the paint was cheap hammertone I picked up so I used that. I made up the battery box, pretty simple but does the trick
As for the weather in Melb, just your average winters day of 12 degrees

Hi Kevin,
Just saw this one on Marketplace, 13 hp motor is a bit of overkill but you can get them for about $450

Thanks Norm, man I love the way they look. Your not wrong about the engine on it though. I'm afraid I'm a real nerd when it come to that, it kinda spoils the whole shape. That's just me.

Cheers mate. K.
