I put a Honda GXV120 motor on a little 16 inch mower for my mates wife so she can mow around under their fruit trees where the rideon misses in between the trees. I was quite impressed with the way it handled the grass and some of it was quite long and thick Kikuyu
Hi Max, these Hondas do drive me crazy because of the missmash of bolts they use, 1.25 on the crank and a variety of bolt sizes in the hold down bolts. This motor starts straight up and runs well but it is a bit smokey My son found a mob in QLD selling the 120 motors new for $110. I'm trying to get some info from them. I am impressed with them and they are nice and light to push around
Thanks Max, it is probably a scam site as the old saying goes if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. I will wait and see what they say, if they reply
I guess you could find one of their Honda shops on Google and email them from those contact details or ring the shop and ask if they are selling the mower engine ,also you don't know how good this Chinese Copy is Norm. It's always a risk when you don't have enough information.
Just be aware Honda is getting out of the small engine business.
And to the service manual here says the mounting and PTO screws are SAE and not metric threaded. Mounting 5/16-24 and PTO are mostly 3/8-24 with type N5 with a 7/16-20 thread. Now the rest of the screws should be metric.
IF you post the model and type code of the engine I can look up crankshaft to see if they did one with a 1.25mm thread.
Now all the clones out there we should still be to keep the OEM Honda engines provided we can find the right parts.
Hi AVB, Yes I have one of those engines, not too bad either for its size cuts well . Yes I found the 5/16th UNF threads and I used a 10x1.25 bolt in the crank so all good at this stage. Still haven't heard back from this mob so I must assume it is a scam although the site looks legit.
