Electric motors for lawn mowers and mulchers

I was wondering if there was anyone out there that could tell me the difference between an electric lawn mower motor and an electric mulcher motor. I also require information on suppliers of such motors, specifications, sizes, weights, power etc. Information on rechargeable batteries for cordless mowers would also be very useful. I'm a university design student, CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!
This information doesnt necessarily have to be exact, just a guide would be good.

Please let me know if you ever find more informative and freely available data on the subject. I am gradually dumping all the knowledge in my head on this website of my son's business so I can retire in a few years.
