Found this the other day. Yet to test it. First Ryan powered line trimmer I've found that isn't a Ryobi. There was a cheap homelite line trimmer next to it I didn't bother taking.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
That looks a lot like my MTD trimmer, branded Yard Machines.

Just a look and it says Yard Machines by MTD -the last bit underneath in tiny letters.
I remember my local mower shop displaying them in the early 2000s and immediately noticing the same engines as 1980s and 90s Ryobis. I once used someone's renamed trimmer not sure if it was MTD -it was dark grey. Engine was very noisy and rough compared to my then new Kaaz with Mitsubishi TU-26 which felt smooth and refined.

This machine has been around since the earlyish 2000s I think. It has a sticker on it Tahmor Mowers. The first thing I ever had to do on it was the bump head and searching or asking about Yard Machines just produced blank looks and pages. MTD had more success.
The first bump head lasted about 15 years but i've had 3 in the last half dozen years. The first one I bought from Carlton Mowers (Sydney), now gone, and I took it to show him and he claimed that the engine was an American built Ryobi? the bump heads are definitely Ryobi.
