I was just reading in the paper that the Victa brand is still listed in the top 10 of Australia's most trusted brands

They're still riding on the coat tales of their success and reliability of yesteryear.

Who else sells them besides that anti competitive hardware chain that employs a lot of rude idiots?
Briggs have been running their own reputation into the ground for years with cowboy management, so they're not going to show any more concern over the Victa brand.

Does Victa even make any part of the mower here anymore or even turns a screw for final assembly?
It's gone from making every part in it's Sydney factory in the 1990s to just being a stamping on a Chinese mower.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

So then you know who ranked better than victa in the trust ratings then haha

Still many victa gold dealers around who sell the corvette range, and there is also many silver and bronze dealers who sell the pace range.

Victa (were) forcing gold dealers to stock at least one of the sumec engined corvettes (when there was only 2)
Having spoken to a gold dealer mechanic, his words on stocking a sumec corvette was 'yeah we are not proud of it, we just hide it in the back row'

Of course now half the corvette range has sumec motors

As far as I know, they are completely imported and just knocked together here

Yes Tyler,
like so many of these so called "surveys" they don't contact me. Just like for years Melbourne had the title of "Australia's most liveable city" What a load of crock

I've just been given a Victa Tornado, what era are these and any feedback? Supposedly a runner but I haven't tried it yet.

Victa used tornado on many different bits of machinery

Assuming you mean the tornado mower, came out in the mid 00's, wafer thin steel chassis that flexes, cracks and rusts like mad unless used on a sandy lawn or kept spotless.

Motors include powertorque (very good), v40 chonda (average), tecumseh (alright but hard to get bits for now) and about 10 varieties of briggs.

If you mean the tornado trimmer, then a nasty POS that is rebadged chinese garbage with imploding pull starters and (quite a funny sight) a spate of exploding flywheels

If you mean the tornado lawn edger, an interesting design with a chinese motor where upon looking up replacement parts, victa themselves recommend removing motor and installing briggs 127cc - they do not stock parts. Yes, a $500 edger with the only engine part available being a $400 new motor haha Fortunately, the carby is fairly easy to get from ebay as thats the main failure point.

As you can probably guess, I would list victa in my least trusted brands unless you have an intimate knowledge of which things they make are any good

Thanks Tyler, I meant the mower...the first thing I noticed was the thinness of the base compared to others I have had. When I wheeled it along the concrete only three wheels seemed to be on the ground at any one time. It seems to have the good old victa plastic carby. I'll put a pic up.

My mate is still happy with his double Tornado I built for him. Body is holding up well and the body being lightweight with a GXV160 on it is his go to choice of mower for many jobs.
One wheel off the ground is nothing unusual

Norm, what do you mean by double Tornado? I'm only a novice you see.
