I have had this machine running fine but after about 10 seconds it just stops. Now I can only get it to run for a couple of seconds and it stops. Obviously a fuel problem but removing the tank is probably the worst abomination I have ever come across. You have to split the plastic cases apart so you can get to the front 2 screws holding the tank in. In doing this the motor falls out and then when putting it all back together you have to get the throttle cable in exactly the right place. I had 3 goes putting it back together to get the cable in the right place, designed by somebody deficient in brain capacity. The tank is very shallow and the filter in the tank has 2 lengths of felt on it I assume to help draw fuel in through the filter. I tried a normal filter but it sucked air because the filter was allowing air to be sucked in because it sits above the fuel level because the tank is shallow. It is obviously starving for fuel and I'm wondering if the felt strips on the filter has to be in a certain position. Any thoughts before I give up on it?

Not the best design but i would still take one over the pos stihls in that price bracket
First time I saw one of those filters I thought they had a manufacturing glitch haha. The felt arms are generally facing away from the fuel line when they are new.
Hook up an auxillary tank to troubleshoot and if it runs well, you know the tanks the problem

Hi Tyler, I was looking at fitting a tank to see if that was the problem. With the felt strips is there any way they are supposed to sit, once fitted inside the tank it is a bit hard to see what is going on

Well Norm welcome to my world...It seems everything lately is PITA to work on. Got UTV that you got to drop the rear axle assembly just to get the right angle gear box off and on. Then yesterday it is two Gravely/Areins ZTRs that to get to the starter remote solenoids you got to remove the engine. So stupidly designed. No consideration for the ones that got to repair these units.
