Hello all,

I have been mucking around with the poppet valve settings on a Power Torque, and then taking it for a mow.

I know the catcher/mulcher supposed to be set on C, but having tried A I don't really notice a difference apart from a lower revving speed. It still seems to cut well and throw the grass into the catcher.

Have any of you tried this yourselves? What did you find?

And I haven't bothered trying the "3" setting, and have no idea what that would cause.

Edit: for reference, this is a steel based Commando I picked up and got running again. Dates from early 90's from the engine. I know some late model PT's have a lower rev range, so this is something else to think about I guess.

Supposedly, A is rich, B is mid and C is lean. I have had varying responses between motors

The old SPFC corvette farted and ran like crap on A - super rich. Ran perfect on C

VSX160 early 2000s model, no difference, 2000s mustang no difference, 2000s ve160 medium difference (better rich probably because they were fairly lean in the last ve iteration)

Very rarely does it effect top no load speed, but it influences how it goes under load as you've found, generally A often is better
