A mate dropped off some christmas presents. 3 mowers and 6 whipper snippers/ pole saws , hedge cutter......
Chondas, so I thought at least some good scrap....
The Big G had usual problems, rusty flywheel, rusty coil ends, so no spark. sanded them off.
Carb bowl had water and crud in it... cleaned that tightened muffler.
It ran pretty nice. I like a motor that runs slow........ to stop it ,you have to engage flywheel brake..
Upon l blowing all the grass etc etc out of the drive belt area, I saw belt was OFF.
Now it's self propelled........ but the carb is leaking fuel.. I didn't clean flat needl e and seat with a cotton bug on a drill.......

Maybe later.......

The other mower is a Black Eagle??

Lol it idles low I guess. If you can get these to run alright, you should find willing buyers for them.

So much plastic.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

They needed to use plastic to cut the weight down... I would not attempt to lift it onto my bench..

I had one here last week, yes they are a monster and I didn't attempt to pick it up, just tipped it on its side to drain the oil and sharpen the blades. Seemed like a reasonable machine except the catcher left a bit to be desired, the metal frame was very flimsy and broken

I got the Black Eagle going, same issues, rust flywheel and end of coil. They should have given them a spray with black zink, or just paint.

happy new year 2023.......................................................

Now the Black Eagle is self propelled. I might keep it for my old age....... I'm only a young fellow at 72.

Got a nice short length pole saw going, but the fuel tank cracked when it bumped the cement. I put a Pope one on, same dimensions. It was full of brown fuel sludge....... I used a mixture of petrol, carb cleaner, turps, detergent, and hot water.........
That didn't do much of a job.........
A lady gave me a can of brake cleaner, so I used that mixed with carb cleaner on a piece of wire bent with a wad of cloth to scrub the inner surfaces, worked well.....
It's got a hedge trimmer and brush cutter attachment that has never been used.... they are very handy for the rough stuff.

Did a test cut on my front hedge completely hiding my house from the sun, but the paper wasps came out. I try again later.
I leave the wasps there as we had a purv creeping around looking in windows a while back............
Gotta get on top of these jobs early.................................
I's good when you have success, as opposed to banging your head against a brick wall...

Hi Speedy ,Mf and Norm,

Looks like you got some good mowers and a good Pole saw Speedy ,a lot of people don't seem
to look after any equipment they use and just throw away as soon as something minor goes wrong .

Cheers
Max.

Aren't real wasps more effective?

MF I has 7 bites finishing the job..... that's enough. Had to bring out the big gun..... keeps you further away from the wasps....

I like the natural look,
Had some luck, sold the Black Eagle to a 78 yr old lady who mows her own big block........
I asked her friend, is she fit? He said yes and no.... She is finding it hard to find a young teenager to do the job.
At least it starts easily....good luck to her............... $60.... she wanted a deal...
cheers speedy..
